Register for the Steel Tube Institute's December Webinars
Want to expand your knowledge of hollow structural sections (HSS)? The Steel Tube Institute (STI) is presenting a series of webinars on a variety of HSS topics. We invite you to join our next webinars.
Tube-to-Tube Design Examples
December 1, 2021 11:00 a.m.–12:00 p.m. CST
HSS members can be used for many different applications, but they are often seen in tube-to-tube configurations such as trusses, wind girts and braces. These uses, however, can result in unique design considerations. During the webinar, we will demonstrate how to determine applicable limit states, evaluate detailing options for HSS beams, and discuss special considerations for laterally offset connections and how to translate calculation results to details.
Note: This webinar was originally scheduled for July 14.
If you previously registered for this webinar for the July 14 date, we have your registration and you are automatically added for this December 15 webinar. You will receive your GoToWebinar login email soon. Join us December 15 at 11:00 a.m. CST for this insightful webinar that covers various basic theories dealing with yield lines. We'll also discuss how to adopt the basic yield line mechanism to solve complicated problems as well as an analysis of concentrated loads on HSS in tubular joints.
STI's HSS Connex web-based tool offers designers a simple way to check HSS wall thicknesses to aid in efficient HSS connection design. The tool performs limit state checks at HSS walls, which is great for determining whether reinforcing will be required. HSS Connex is available for HSS Professional Members, and STI is now offering a 30-day free trial to HSS Connex.
